Indigenous women bid to influence post-2015 development agenda

UN radio

Indigenous women in Asia should be given a key role in deciding the future path of the post-2015 Sustainable Development Goals, according to a rights group in the region.

Indigenous women from around the world recently gathered at the annual Commission on the Status of Women at the United Nations in New York, to advocate for their needs.

They say they face multiple forms of discrimination and often face domestic violence and sexual abuse.

Chanda Thapa from the Magar peoples of Nepal, represents Asia Indigenous Peoples Pact, a regional organisation supporting indigenous women.
