 The proportion of the world population over age 60 is projected to increase from 11 percent today to 22 percent by 2050—see charts below (data from United Nations, 2012). Population pyramids, especially in Europe, the U.S. and Canada, reveal that the proportion of the elderly is increasing while that of young people is shrinking. As the population ages, more people will need care.

 Recent research has demonstrated that refugee women seeking help for domestic violence in countries of resettlement, such as Australia, are likely to have experienced multiple incidents of trauma as a result of their exposure to war, loss, displacement and encampment (Pittaway 2004; Pittaway & Rees 2006; Rees & Pease 2007; Zannettino 2012).

 Dans le cadre d'un séjour au Sénégal, une enquête a pu être réalisée auprès de neuf femmes sénégalaises aux horizons divers. Ces femmes, actrices de leur développement ont accepté de répondre aux questions et de donner leur point de vue concernant leurs situations, leurs problèmes mais surtout les solutions pour les résoudre.

 Magdalena Carmen Frida Kahlo y Calderon's biography is full of pain. After a really dramatic accident she would undergo as many as 35 operations, mainly on her back and her right leg and foot, including the amputation of one of her legs. Her back had a terrible smell “like a death dog” and she was hung from her head in order to fortalice her column.
